THEY ARE TALKING
ABOUT US
On December 12th we will open the last exhibition of the year, and the last exhibition under the theme “They talk about us” that we have been working on for two years.
We proudly present these eight artists:
Mia Rogersdotter Gran, Kerstin Hedström, Josefine Östlund, Karin Nordgren, Malin Ståhl, Johdet Pirak, Matilda Kenttä and Clarissa Siimes
Many people are looking towards the north, including investors, politicians, artists, curators and activists. We who live and work in the north experience an ever-increasing interest in our place, our issues, our environments and raw materials. A feeling grew stronger and stronger, the feeling of being looked at, examined and illuminated and interpreted, without being involved in formulating it ourselves.
Our curiosity takes its starting point in our northern perspective. The exhibition will be a kind of inventory of what northern contemporary art looks like and what issues it touches on. We seek a broader picture, where a spectrum of lives and realities takes place and is formulated. What gaze creates the image of us and our place? Are we involved in creating knowledge about our time, as well as our history?
