For two years, Galleri Syster has been investigating the northern situation under the theme we call “They are talking about us”. Now we are (for this time at least) concluding the theme by releasing a publication.
Many are turning their gaze towards the north. We who live and work here experience an ever-increasing interest in our place, our issues, our environments and our raw materials. The feeling of being looked at, examined, illuminated and interpreted – without being involved in formulating it ourselves, grew stronger.
Somewhere in the middle of the northern situation, Galleri Syster sought a broader picture, where a spectrum of lives and realities has been given space and formulated. Now it was simply time for us, we who live here, to investigate our place ourselves, both geographically and mentally.
Contributors to the publication: Katarina Pirak Sikku, Sandra Wasara Hammare, Josefin Şilan Karlsson, Maria Lind, Anja Örn, Sara Edström and Katt Skarin.
